Hua Hin is the Swedish capital of Thailand. Thousands of Swedes winter here, with Norwegians, Danes and Finns alongside them. But the community’s infrastructure changed a lot between 2025 and 2026. The Swedish association dissolved in February 2026, the Swedish honorary consulate has been vacant since January 2025, and some older websites no longer work. This directory lists only what we could confirm is running for the 2026–27 season.

Golf and sport
Scandinavian Golf Society Hua Hin
SGS is the backbone of Swedish social life in Hua Hin. The committee has booked 49 competitions from 11 October 2026 to 28 March 2027: 24 SGS competitions and 25 Sunday “Team Sweden” competitions, including best-ball and scramble formats. There are six dinners with prize-giving through the season, and the SGS Master is played at Springfield on 11 February, with the dinner at the Sailom Hotel on 13 February. Men 75+ and women 70+ may play from forward tees. Book through Min Golf or the SGS website.
Viking Club Hua Hin
A group of Hua Hin Scandinavians started a casual football kickabout in 2010, and it grew into an open sports and social club with Thai and international members. Today it runs football, padel and floorball, the Swedish indoor game, played “like ice hockey without the ice”. Players range from teenagers to 65-plus. The club is based at Soi 94 and can be reached at info@vikingclubhuahin.com or on Line. It’s a better entry point than a bar stool if you’ve just arrived.
School for Scandinavian children
Sanuk – Svenska skolan Thailand (Hua Hin campus)
Sanuk has run Swedish schools in Thailand since 2005, with campuses in Hua Hin, on Koh Lanta and in Huay Yang. The Hua Hin school is on the beach side of Petchkasem Road and takes pupils from preschool class to year 9, aged 6–16, for anything from four weeks to a full school year. Lessons run from 08:30 to 14:00 (Fridays until 12:00), and only qualified Swedish teachers with five or more years’ experience teach. For years 6–9, pupils staying 17 weeks or longer are enrolled with Sofia Distans, which sets grades, while Sanuk teachers support the work day to day. Norwegian families use the school too.

Churches
Svenska kyrkan i Asien
The Church of Sweden no longer has a fixed congregation in Thailand. It works as a mobile church from Bangkok, with a priest and assistant who visit Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai and Koh Lanta regularly. Services are held in borrowed churches, restaurants or the Swedish school, often combined with a svenskträff (Swedish meet-up). Dansk Kirke Thailand
The Danish Church in Thailand, part of Den Danske Kirke i Udlandet, is based at its church and culture house in Bangkok (125/34 Soi Ruamrudee 4). It holds services in Hua Hin, plus joint Scandinavian Christmas and Easter services. The Danish priest also offers pastoral conversations and visits Danes who are in hospital. Dates are in the church calendar and on the “Den Danske Kirke i Thailand” Facebook page.
Norwegians in Hua Hin are served by Sjømannskirken in Pattaya, which covers all of Thailand.

Some online directories still list consulates that have closed. The official embassy websites above are the only reliable source, so check them before you travel for a passport pickup or a life certificate.
⚠️ What changed recently
- Svenskföreningen i Hua Hin dissolved on 25 February 2026. The annual meeting voted to close it after 17 years, because too few members were active and nobody could be recruited for the board. Its website stays up as an archive. Golf continues under SGS.
- Swedish honorary consulate: vacant. It has offered no services since the honorary consul died in January 2025, and no successor had been announced when we checked.
- Nordmenn i Hua Hin: the Norwegian association, known for golf, petanque and cycling tours, no longer has a working website (it returned a 404 in September 2026). We couldn’t confirm current activity, so ask in the Norwegian Facebook groups before counting on it.
