Pattaya and Jomtien have Thailand’s largest Norwegian community, and a sizeable Swedish and Danish one too. Everything meets at one address: Sjømannskirken, the Norwegian Seamen’s Church on Thappraya Road, halfway between Pattaya and Jomtien. It hosts the Norwegian church, the monthly Scandinavian service, the Swedish and Danish priests’ visits, and a lot of everyday social life. This directory covers what’s confirmed to be running in 2026, plus the consular changes most online listings have missed.

✅ Verified 30 September 2026. Each listing was checked against its own website or an official source. We don’t list bars, restaurants or businesses we can’t confirm, and nobody paid to be included.

Sjømannskirken: the Scandinavian living room

The Norwegian Seamen’s Church has been in Pattaya since 2005 and has served Norwegians across all of Thailand since 2010. In 2019 it moved into its own building on Thappraya Road Soi 5, with a proper church room, a library and a swimming pool. Everyone is welcome, not only Norwegians, and many Swedes and Danes use it as their meeting place too.

  • Address: 165/28 Moo 10, Thappraya Road Soi 5, Banglamung, Chonburi 20150
  • Open: Tuesday–Friday 12:00–16:00 · Saturday 11:00–16:00 · Sunday 10:30–16:00 · closed Mondays
  • Every week: Sunday service at 11:00 · Saturday morning gathering at 11:00 followed by lørdagsgrøt (Saturday rice porridge) · Thursday knitting café · Friday jungle walk to stay fit
  • Seasonal: veterans’ meet-ups resume in November; confirmation classes for 2026–27 are open for sign-up
  • Office phone: +66 85 135 7755 (Tuesday–Friday) · Emergency phone: +66 85 123 9090 · thailand@sjomannskirken.no

The emergency phone is for acute crises, and the staff are available to talk if you drop in or call. That matters because Norway no longer has a consulate in Pattaya. Save the emergency number in your phone before you need it.

Scandinavian services: Swedish and Danish priests in Pattaya

On the last Sunday of every month at 11:00, the Scandinavian churches in Thailand hold a joint service at Sjømannskirken. Familiar hymns are sung, the sermon is in the Scandinavian languages with a Thai translation, and waffles and coffee follow in the garden. No registration is needed.

  • Svenska kyrkan i Asien (Church of Sweden) visits Pattaya regularly. Its October 2026 programme lists a sinnesromässa (serenity service) on 23 October at 18:30 and a Scandinavian service on 25 October at 11:00, both at Sjømannskirken. Contact: asien.kyrkan@svenskakyrkan.se.
  • Dansk Kirke Thailand (Danish Church): the Danish priest takes part in the monthly service and can meet you for a personal conversation around it. The church’s base is its culture house in Bangkok, 125/34 Soi Ruamrudee 4.

🇳🇴 Norway No consulate. Norway’s embassy lists only Phuket as a consulate in Thailand Embassy in Bangkok, UBC II Building, Sukhumvit Soi 33 (appointments only; closed Wednesdays). For urgent practical help locally, call Sjømannskirken.
🇩🇰 Denmark No consulate. Denmark has no honorary consuls anywhere in Thailand Embassy in Bangkok, Sathorn Soi 1, consular section +66 2 343 1100 (press 2).

Watch out for outdated listings. Several consulate-directory websites still show a Norwegian honorary consulate in Jomtien and a Danish consulate in Pattaya. Neither appears on the official embassy websites. Denmark decided to close its Pattaya consulate back in 2015. Always check norway.no and um.dk before making the trip.

Giving back: Danish children’s charity in Pattaya

NAB, Netværk for Adoption & Børnehjælp, grew out of Den Danske Pattaya Fond, which has supported children’s projects in Pattaya since 2003. It’s a volunteer-run Danish association that mainly supports the Human Help Network Foundation Thailand, which helps street children and children at risk. The Danish Church in Thailand backs its projects. More at dendanskepattayafond.dk.

⚠️ What changed recently

  • Norwegian consular help has moved to Bangkok. The embassy’s own consulate list now names only Phuket, so Pattaya Norwegians should plan passport and consular errands for Bangkok.
  • Danish honorary consuls: none in Thailand (the Phuket consulate is also not operating), according to the Danish embassy.
  • Older associations have gone quiet. We found no current activity for Nordiska Föreningen i Pattaya, whose last public trace is from 2010, so we don’t list it. If it or another club is active, tell us and we’ll verify it.
